The Mbielu-Mbielu-Mbielu is a large, amphibious cryptid reported to inhabit the Likouala Department region in the Republic of the Congo. It's a large reptilian animal most notable for possessing a row of dorsal plates similar to those of the long-extinct dinosaur known as Stegosaurus, leading some to suggest that it might represent an extant relative of it. According to cryptozoologist Roy P. Mackal, a young woman named Odette Gesonget identified a stegosaur picture as representing the same animal she had seen. Unlike the stegosaur, however, the Mbielu-Mbielu-Mbielu seems to spend most of its time in water, as witnesses have reported that its back and dorsal plates tend to be mostly covered in green algae. Another possibility for its identity would be a large undiscovered species of lizard, perhaps a monitor lizard. Whatever it is, it's also possibly related to another Congolese reptilian cryptid, the Nguma-monene, and to the similar Kenyan cryptid called the Muhuru.
