Universe Time Machine: Rise of the Morlocks

The Morlocks are a semi-sapient species of quadrupedal primates, descended from humans, which replaced their ancestors as the dominant species of the world 68 years in the future.

Biology[]

Morlocks are vicious creatures, physiologically adapted to be primarily nocturnal. They have light-sensitive skin, lethal claws on their paws, and sensitive eyes with large pupils. Genetically-derived from humans, the Morlocks are described as being stronger, faster, and more resistant to disease. They're also adept at climbing walls.

Culture and society[]

Morlocks are highly-predatory creatures which move in groups to attack. They make nests in abandoned buildings and have a habit of collecting objects.

History[]

The origins of the Morlocks are the result of a temporal loop. They are first discovered to be Earth's dominant species in the 2080s by soldiers sent through a portal in time as part of an experiment. After it is discovered that they are virtually immune to all diseases, Colonel John Wichita attempts to bring one to the present day and use its DNA to save his dying son, which results in his own death. At the end, it is revealed that a DNA sample was obtained and transfused into Wichita's son who then transforms into the first Morlock.

Appearances[]

  • Time Machine: Rise of the Morlocks (2011)

Notes[]

  • They're loosely based on the Morlocks from H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Time Machine.
