The Night Feeder is the main antagonist of the Primal episode of the same name.
Overview[]
The Night Feeder was a theropod or theropod-like dinosaur that was similar in size to Fang. Although its appearance near the end of the episode barely appeared, it heavily resembled a dromeosaurid with black skin, long sharp claws akin to a Baryonyx or a Therizinosaurus, short tail, sharp fangs, and jaws resemble of that of a Baryonyx.
The Night Feeder was covered in a kind of black tar-like substance, as Fang's face got covered in liquid when she tried to bite the dinosaur. It is likely that this tar-like substance is a natural trait of the Night Feeder, using it to blend with the darkness around it.
History[]
The creature first appeared off-screen when it killed a wandering Smilodon. the Smilodon's mutilated corpse was discovered by Spear and Fang the following day. Fang herself freaked out when smelling the scent of the beast. One night later, the creature goes on a killing spree on a group of ceratopsians, in its invisibility it spent the entire night killing the herd. Spear and Fang heard the cries of frantic dinosaurs, but decide not to deal with the massacre.
The next day, the monster then stalks the duo as they venture through the forest. On nighttime, when the duo set to rest, the fire blows out and the creature finally makes its move and attacks. As the Night Feeder attacks and chases the duo, Fang bites the creature and discovered that it is covered in an oil-like substance. While the monster unleashed its loud piercing shriek towards the duo, Spear accidentally strikes the ground with his weapon which caused a spark, which scared off the monster. After finally recognizing it's fear, the duo burned the forest which the creature is surrounded in a circle of fire. As the monster was trapped, Spear throws his weapon at the monster, impaling and burning it to death, ending its reign of terror.
Notes[]
- Its actions and abilities were similar to the Indominus Rex and the Indoraptor from the Jurassic World franchise, as well as the kirie from the internecion cube series.
- Some of its sound effects came from King Ghidorah from the 2018 anime film, Godzilla The Planet Eater.
- In the animatic pitch, the Night Feeder has a more humanoid or demonic appearance with longer arms, a spherical body and more crooked teeth.
