The Ocean Flish, or simply Flish, is a species of bony fish which inhabits the global ocean of the Earth circa 200 million years in the future. They're notable for having developed their pectoral fins into functional wings and mastered the art of powered flight.
They're distantly related to the smaller, land-based Forest Flish, which live in the lichenous rainforests of the supercontinent Pangaea II.
Biology[]
Ocean Flish are brightly-colored creatures with flapping wings and a beaked mouth. Curiously, their caudal fin is positioned horizontally, rather than vertically as in modern fish.
They prey on Silverswimmers by scooping them from above in the same way that modern sea birds feed on fish. An inner mouth with sharp teeth extends from within their beaks to grab food more efficiently and sometimes are caught by the Rainbow Squid.
When Ocean Flish are caught in the middle of hypercanes, their corpses are often washed ashore into the rainshadow desert, where they become food for the Grimworms.
