This is a species of freshwater octopuses found in Mexico. They have light-brown skin and, due to mutations induced by radioactive contamination in the water, have developed the ability to survive on land as well as underwater.
One of them mutated into the creature that became known as Octaman.

- Even discounting their mutation, these Octopuses are distinct from all known species in real life, as they inhabit freshwater.
- If the point-of-view camera is to be trusted, both them and the Octaman seem to possess compound vision, something which real octopuses don't.
