Phinium is a Fairy outcast who abandoned his native realm when he fell in love with a human named Lydia, with whom he had a daughter, Johanna. Reluctantly, he returned to the Fairy world with his wife as part of a bargain made with the Fairy Entity to save his daughter's life, leaving the girl to be raised by Phinium's sister and fellow outcast Astrid in the human town of Tofoten.
