Pinsir is a Bug-type Pokémon species originally identified in the region of Kanto.

Exposure to the Mega Stone known as Pinsirite results in its temporary transformation into the form known as Mega Pinsir, which acquires wings and becomes a Bug/Flying-type.

Biology[]

Pinsir is a bipedal insectoid species with a hostile aspect to it, mostly due to the triangular shape of its eyes. These are human-like eyes with a white sclera, rather than insect-like compound eyes. Its body resembles a large tick or crustacean, and it has four limbs, consisting of a pair of long thin arms, and a pair of short stubby legs. Its hands and feet are equipped with three claws each. This Pokémon is usually light brown in coloration, but the rare shiny variant is lilac.

Pinsir's mouth is a vertical opening at the center of its body with numerous sharp teeth. It also possesses a pair of spiked horns which it uses to tear its prey apart before consumption. If the victim is too tough for that, Pinsir will toss it aside instead. Its great strength allows it to cut tree logs in half and lift opponents twice its weight. Its habits are mostly diurnal. At night it either digs burrows or hides in the treetops to sleep.

Wild populations of this species are known to occur in the regions of Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola. They prefer warm environments, as cold weather renders them immobile. In Alola, they engage in territorial disputes with Vikavolt, but seem to get along well with Heracross.
