An unnamed species of giant prehistoric lizards was encountered by a man named Chesney in an unexplored cave in North Yorkshire, England, in 1896.

Biology[]

The prehistoric lizards are large predators, about twice the size of a horse. At least two individuals have been discovered, preserved alive inside cocoons of limestone where they remained in deep hibernation for millions of years.

They have bright green armoured skin which is impervious to blades, although their underside is more vulnerable. The head is curiously short and squat, but the enormous mouth opens back almost to the forearms. Most notably, they have a pair of six-feet-long feelers with fleshy mobile tendrils at the tips, which act as their primary sense organs. They seem to be amphibious, with a long tail that can be used for swimming.
