A Snow Bear is a species of bear that inhabits the far north of Westeros.
Overview[]
They are white and huge compared to the real world polar bears. Their skins were so warm, the wildlings use them as shaggy pelts for tents and clothing. One of the animals appeared in the Telltale's game, where the snow bear pursued Gared Tuttle, Cotter, and Sylvi until they reach a frozen river separating them from a cave. Gared distracted the snow bear as Cotter and Sylvi run for the cave, and when it chased him across the ice it breaks beneath it and causing it to fall into the water. The snow bear followed after them again as they reach the North Grove, where it is revealed that Josera Snow has been warging into the bear.
One bear appeared as a wight in Beyond the Wall in the television adaption, where it attacked Jon Snow and his search party and almost killed Thoros before being stabbed with a dragonglass dagger by Jorah Mormont.
