Spear is one of the main protagonists of [adult swim] animated series, Primal.
Overview[]
A neanderthal, Spear lived his peaceful life with his family until a tragedy struck when a pack of horned dinosaurs devoured his children and mate. Filled with rage, Spear briefly fought against the theropods until they walked away with their alpha. Grieving with the loss of his family, Spear climbed the pillar as he prepared to take his life until he sees his family in his vision which inspired him to carry on.
The next day, Spear followed a tyrannosaur Fang (mistaken believed to be a similar theropod) with the intent of attacking her and her babies. Before he can fight against Fang, the same pack appeared and began fighting her. Witnessing the fight which reminded his painful memory, Spear assisted Fang by fighting and killing the horned dinosaurs. After the dinosaurs were killed off, Spear had a brief bonding time with Fang's babies before the huge alpha came out of nowhere and Spear and Fang watched helplessly as her babies were eaten by the behemoth. The two then started working together to confront the giant and taking it down by stabbing its brain. After the alpha's death, Fang mourned the loss of her young while Spear walked away. Sometime after the tragedy, Fang followed him in the beach where he took pity and bonded with her, sparking their adventures.
Throughout their dangerous times from encountering large snakes in the waterfall to fighting bats and a giant spider, Spear and Fang finally came to peace and quiet in a beautiful oasis until the two were captured by the vicious tribe of ape humanoids where one of them would be forced to fight against the champion. As Fang was beaten to the brink of death, Spear escaped from his bondage, punched the the giant mutated ape's eye before being thrown off by him easily. Spear then climbed the pillar where he drank the bowl of black goo which caused him to transformed into his monstrous form. Spear and Krog began their brief fight until he grabbed the gorilla's arms, rip them, and beating him to death with his own arms. Spear then slaughters all the spectators through the night before returning back to his normal status the following day; filled with shock and regret with all the destruction he caused, Spear rushed to Fang only to find out she was unmoving.
After finding out that she's alive although in a critical condition, Spear began to carry her out of the stadium by the time the vultures came to feast on the carcasses of the simians. By the time the two arrived in the cave, Spear began to fight back against the stalking canid animals while trying to heal Fang back into her normal status. After encountering bizarre lifeforms like the infected sauropod, the witch cult, and a night creature, the two were in shocked when they encountered a human woman named Mira. As the three venture throughout the jungles, Mira introduces the two her customs that they never seen before like her ability to speak, cook, and praying. Unfortunately, she was kidnapped once again except by the white simians and then by the human slavers which the duo were unable to save her by just watching the boat disappearing into the ocean and Spear gets to say his first and only word "Mira".
The two then began building a raft after Spear's failed attempt to swim over the ocean to save her. While venturing over the ocean, the two encountered harmless huge whales, hunted an Archelon as food, and attacked by a Megalodon during the storm. After their raft was destroyed by the massive shark, the two were seperated by the strong tides before they get to reach to the shores of an another continent.
When spending his time with the Celtic inspired tribe, Spear feels like he doesn't belong with the human society. The following morning, he witnessed two t-rexes attacking the village, one of them being Fang. After Fang accidentally killed Red, she walked away heartbroken, Spear also decided to go with her despite the chieftain's plea to stay with his people. While Fang is still grieving over the loss of Red, Spear decided to check the valley after encountering the series of cave paintings where he and Fang stayed for the night. While wandering through the valley, he imagined human gatherers that once roamed the landscape. By the time he returned to the cave, the two were confronted by a couple of vikings and their cave bear mounts. After a short fight, one of the vikings was impaled by Spear's weapon on his leg while attempting to get away from the two, Spear then demands the whereabouts of Mira to the viking before shortly fighting against him until Fang grabs him in her jaws and bites him to death. The duo ventured through the countryside throughout day and night until they encountered a viking village. Spear entered and scouted the village until he finally located the shack filled with slaves. Mira and Spear finally reunited but not before Mira refused to let her people behind. As the heroes and the slaves tried to sneak away from the village, they were confronted by a group of vikings and their bear mounts. Spear decided to fight against the vikings along with Fang who came out of nowhere, after a long battle, the three left the village by using a viking ship to get away.
