Spore Mantises are tree-like insects native to the forests of Skull Island.

Overview[]

The creature's description appears to be a stick-insect, only much larger—the size of a mature redwood tree. It has six wood-shaped legs, brown bark-like skin covering their bodies, a small head which would pop out of the hole of the log, spiked teeth and bone-crushing jaws. Due to its more tree like appearance, it camouflages into a log in order to wait for its prey to lurk into its territory, although, the creature was no match for much larger predators, such as Skullcrawlers.

  • Kong Skull Island (2017)

Notes[]

  • Despite its name, the Spore Mantis does not resemble a mantis, and it instead resembles more to a stick insect. Its name was possibly a reference to Kamacuras.
  • Before the film was released, some fans thought the creature was Mothra as a larva, but the speculation was denied.
