Surfbats (Remala madipella) are a strange species of flightless aquatic bats which inhabit the shores of the Batavian archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, circa 50 million years in the future.
Biology[]
Surfbats live in groups and dive into the shallow waters among coral reefs to hunt for their prey. Their bodies are streamlined, and their wings have developed into flippers, similar to those of penguins, while their legs and tail are fused together by a leathery membrane. On land, they move around in an ungraceful way by leaping on their tail and flippers.
