Swalot is a Poison-type Pokémon species first identified in the Hoenn region. Its juvenile stage is known as Gulpin. Wild populations of this species are known to exist in the regions of Hoenn and Kalos.

Biology[]

Swalot and Gulpin are land-based gastropod-like creatures with a quasi-amorphous body, stubby hands, a toothless mouth and small eyes. Swalot in particular also has a pair of long whisker-like tentacles on its cheeks; while Gulpin has a leaf-shaped crest on its forehead (Females have shorter tentacles or a smaller crest). Swalot's skin is dark purple in normal individuals and blue in shiny ones; whereas Gulpin's coloration is lime green.

These Pokémon are well-known for their voracious appetite and their ability to digest anything, including scrap metal. The stomach comprises most of their internal anatomy, leaving little space for the heart, brain and other organs. They can swallow objects of their own size with relative ease and they expel noxious gases as a digestive by-product.

Additionally, Swalot can produce toxic fluids which it sprays from its skin pores at potential prey to subdue it, before swallowing the prey whole. It's been said that the only thing Swalot's stomach enzymes cannot digest is its own stomach walls.
