Toxicroak is a Poison/Fighting-type Pokémon species, originally described in the Sinnoh region. Its juvenile stage is known as Croagunk. Members of this species are also known as the "Toxic Mouth Pokémon".

Biology[]

Members of this species are medium-sized bipedal anurans, primarily blue in coloration, with yellow eyes. Wild populations are known to occur in the regions of Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos.

Croagunk[]

Croagunk

The juvenile stage, Croagunk, looks a lot like a bipedal frog with tridactyl hands and feet. It has two white stripes and a black stripe running on the midsection of its body. Its hands and toes are black, but the central finger on its hands is orange, as are the poison sacs on its cheeks.

Croagunk's fingers are covered in poisonous fluid, and it can use them to infect opponents. The cheek sacs can also be used for loud vocalizations which serve to intimidate foes. Curiously, the poison on its fingers is an important ingredient in a remedy for lower-back pain.

Toxicroak[]

The final stage, Toxicroak, is a much more formidable creature, with a muscular body and digitigrade posture. Its hands develop a large knuckle-claw, which is red in coloration and shaped like a sharp talon. Its head develops a horn, and its throat expands into a red-colored vocal sac. Female's sac is smaller.

Toxicroak's knuckle-claw is used to inject lethal toxins, which are produced in its throat-sac, and pumped through the arms by a specialized vascular system. When it croaks, it uses the movement of its throat sac to churn the poison stored in it and make it more potent.
