Volcarona is a Bug/Fire-type Pokémon species from the region of Unova, and is also known as the "Sun Pokémon". Its larval stage is known as Larvesta, a.k.a. the "Torch Pokémon".

Biology[]

Larvesta[]

Larvesta

The larval stage of this species is a comparatively large maggot-like creature with a segmented brown abdomen, three pairs of tiny black legs, a black face, white fur covering its head and torso, five red horns that can shoot flames, and blue eyes.

This Pokémon lives at the base of volcanoes, and can produce fire with a temperature of up to 3,000 degrees Celsius; the flames themselves are also powerful enough to slice through a sheet of iron. Its whole body becomes enclosed in a "cocoon" of flames when it evolves.

Volcarona[]

When Larvesta evolves, it becomes a large moth-like creature with only four legs, and six orange wings, which are used to scatter ember scales, allowing this Pokémon to easily incinerate its surroundings. Pokédex entries claim that when the sky is darkened by volcanic ash, Volcarona's fire provides a replacement for the sun, and that it appears in particularly cold winters to warm up the land and save other Pokémon from freezing.
