The Water Ant is an African amphibious ant species which inhabits the world of 50 million years in the future and are the descendants of african ants.
Biology[]
They can be usually found on swamps, where they build large, waterproof nests on top of raft-like platforms in the water. The ants are also known to build bridges and ramps connecting the nest to the shore, as well as to floating food-stores. The ants' main predator is, appropriately enough, the Swimming Anteater.
Appearances[]

Notes[]
- The Water Ant is one of the very few species which wasn't given a scientific name in the book. Others include the Skern, the "Distant Future Plant", and the "Distant Future Animal".
