Wobbuffet is a Psychic-type Pokémon species originally identified in the region of Johto. It has an immature stage known as Wynaut.

Biology[]

Wynaut and Wobbuffet are both strange-looking Pokémon with smooth light-blue skin (the rare shiny variant being pink instead), a large jagged mouth with no teeth, and eyes that appear to be permanently closed. Although they will ingest food with this mouth, it's generally believed that the entire face and most of their bodies are just a deceptive facade, and their actual eyes and brains are located on their mysterious "tail", which they're very protective of.

Wynaut and Wobbuffet are generally docile creatures and specialize in endurance and counterattack-based tactics. Wild populations of this species are found in the regions of Johto, Hoenn, and Galar.

Wynaut[]

Wynaut

Also known as the Bright Pokémon, Wynaut is a small bipedal creature and has only a single eye on its tail. Its facial expression is always happy, even when angered, but an angry Wynaut can still be easily-identified, as it will be slapping the ground with its tail. They love the smell of sweet fruits and pick only the best ones to eat.

Wynaut travel in groups and are often attracted to fruit gardens during the day. At night, they cluster in caves to sleep, or gather on moonlit nights to squeeze up against each other, training to increase their strength and endurance while also learning counterattack tactics that will be useful in battles.

Wobbuffet[]

The second and final stage, Wobbuffet, is about twice as tall and twice as heavy as the previous one. It is also known as the Patient Pokémon, due to its passiveness in battle, as it will never attack first. Unlike Wynaut, Wobbuffet has four pseudopod-like feet, and its dark flattened tail is equipped with two eyes rather than just one. Females can be distinguished by having a red mark on their lips, which makes it look like they're wearing lipstick.

Wobbuffet prefer to inhabit dark places, such as caves, in part because it make it easier for them to conceal their black tails, which they're very protective of. They never initiate an attack, and inflate their soft bodies when attacked to pump up their counter strike. Despite being docile, they're very competitive among their own kind. When two or more of them meet, they will compute to see which one can outlast the other without food.
