The Yara-ma-yha-who is a small, red-skinned arboreal humanoid found in the folk lore of Australian aboriginal cultures. This ambush predator only inhabits fig trees and attacks travelers who fall asleep under the tree shadows. Despite targeting victims which are asleep, it is never active during the night. It also won't feed on anything other than live prey.

The Yara-ma-yha-who is usually described as a vampiristic humanoid figure with a comically oversized head and a wide toothless mouth. Its digits are covered in cephalopod-style suckers which are used to drain the blood out of unsuspecting victims. It does so to make them weak and afterwards swallows them whole, but regurgitates them after a sleeping period; still alive but now a few centimeters shorter, with a reddish tint of the skin and an odd desire for blood. While the victim is allowed to go, the creature is very prone to attack again the next time the victim approaches the fig tree. If the process is repeated enough times, the victim eventually transforms into another Yara-ma-yha-who.
