The Yeti, also known by his name Turteltag, is a humanoid, ape-like creature from the Himalayas that appears in the German sketch comedy series Bullyparade (1997-2002), as well as in its animated adaptation Lissi und der wilde Kaiser (2007) and the live-action film Bullyparade: The Movie (2017).
One Yeti or many Yetis?[]
It is unknown if the three Yetis in the series and the films are all one character or if at least one of them is a different character.
If assuming the three variants are one Yeti, the species must reach a very old age as the Yeti is shown living in four centuries (19th, 20th, 21st and 23rd century). Although it is possible that the Yeti can live several hundred years, it is very unlikely for an ape- or human-like creature to reach an age that high. Also, the Yetis are portrayed differently in the series, the animated film and the live-action film. The Yeti in the series has glasses and blonde hair, no beard and white fur, while the live-action version has white hair, a beard and white fur and the animated version is seen with beige-white hair and fur and with a stubbly beard. At last, the animated version was portrayed by Waldemar Kobus, while the live-action versions were played by Rick Kavanian which may also support this theory.
However, the shown Yetis all are similar in their appearance, have similar personalities and only have minor differences considering their appearance. It is possible that the Yeti changed his appearance slightly over the centuries. Although the animated Yeti mentions that he has or at least had a big sister, no female Yeti is seen in the franchise. In Lissi und der wilde Kaiser, an important part of the plot is the loneliness of the Yeti, who has no friends till the end of the film. It is possible that he was excluded from the Yeti society because of his rude and mistreating behaviour. Another aspect indicating that only one Yeti exists is the friendship with mountaineer Reinhold Messner that both the animated Yeti as well as the Yeti from the series share.
It is also possible that there once was a population of Yetis that somehow went extinct except for one member of the species.
This article assumes that the Yetis seen in the Bullyparade franchise are one character.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Almost nothing is known about the Yeti's early life. It is unknown when the Yeti was born, as well as how he learned the German language. It is known that the Yeti once had a big sister and that he had to wear her old clothes.
For a long time, the Yeti had no real friends, although the remembered befriending a snowman when he was younger, only to get upset when the snowman melted away in spring.
However, the Yeti was long living a happy, untroubled life far away from humans in the Himalayas, although the animals feared him, as he loved to scare them with his roar and often mistreated them.
19th Century[]
However, this changed at some point in or after 1854 when the Yeti fell down a crevasse. He met the devil down there who wanted to take the Yeti to hell. In his fear, the Yeti made a deal with the devil: The devil would spare the Yeti's life if he would manage to bring him the prettiest woman in the world during one week.
So, the Yeti traveled to Austria and kidnapped Empress Elisabeth (called "Lissi") while she was performing a show for her husband Emperor Franz Joseph. Hunted by the Emperor, his mother and his Feldmarschall, as well as by the two hunters Ignaz and Schwaiger (who captured the Yeti for a short time, until he was saved by Lissi), Lissi and the Yeti fled over the Alps to Neuzahnstein Castle, which belonged to Lissi's cousin King Bussi of Bavaria.
A while later, after the other two groups also appeared in the castle, it came to a showdown on a construction site, after which Lissi and Franz reunited. Suddenly, the devil appeared again and demanded his part of the deal with the Yeti. But the Yeti, having changed in his personality during his time with Lissi, didn't want to accept Lissi's fate and offered his soul instead, as well as a foot ointment and a washcloth. The devil agreed to a new deal: The Yeti must recognize Lissi out of three women, otherwise the devil would receive his soul, Lissi's soul, the foot ointment and the washcloth. Although the devil tried to hinder the Yeti by transforming Lissi and the other women into pigs, the Yeti was able to recognize Lissi with the help of Emperor Franz and his Feldmarschall.
After all heroes reunited with Lissi, the Yeti quickly solved King Bussi's toothache problem by punching him in his face and traveled back to his home, the Himalayas.
20th Century[]
In 1986, the Yeti met Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner when he was crossing East Tibet. He and Messner quickly became best friends.
21st Century[]
In 2002, the Yeti was the host of a TV show called Yeti am Mittag (Yeti at Midday) where he invited famous guests to talk about interesting aspects of their lives. The guests included James Bond, Sigi the Singing Nudist Pope as well as DJ BoBo and his imitator.
By 2002, the Yeti was no longer living in the Himalayas, but together with his best friend Reinhold Messner in South Tyrol. He also seems to have developed an eye condition as he wore glasses by then.
23rd Century[]
At one point in the 23rd century, the Yeti became friends with the Bavarian alcoholic spacefaring beverage supplier Sigi Solo and began to work as his copilot and mechanic.
One day in 2280, they received a call for help from Schrotty, the chief engineer of the U.S.S. Hasselhoff, who was stuck with his associates, Captain Kork and Mr. Spuck, on the Planet of Women. The planet currently was under the attack of evil clones who wanted to cut the women's hair. Sigi Solo and the Yeti first thought that Schrotty was from a pizza restaurant and began to order, before the desperate Schrotty mentioned the Planet of Women. They both agreed to help and although Schrotty lost contact afterwards, they were able to receive the planet's location.
When they arrived on the planet, the Yeti was greeted by the women who directly fell in love with him, thinking he was a pet. While Mr. Spuck, Captain Kork and Schrotty left the planet as Sigi Solo's new copilots, the Yeti stayed on the planet.
